The New Sky workshop
We run our own 3,000 sqm workshop in Thuong Hong, Hung Yen. Restaurant interiors, stainless steel kitchens and signage are all finished here before they leave for site — and you are welcome to come and see it.
What do we make ourselves?
We make three things ourselves: interiors, stainless steel kitchens, and signage (signs, dimensional letters, light boxes, wayfinding). Those three give a restaurant both its face and its working parts — what a guest sees walking in, and what the staff handles every shift.
Inside the workshop each of the three runs on its own line, the full length of the building: one for interiors, one for signage, one for stainless. Every line has its own production area and its own store. The three run side by side, and none of them cuts across another.
A restaurant needs all three, usually inside the same month: tables and counters, the stainless run in the kitchen, the sign set out front. All three leave from here, on one schedule, past one set of eyes.
Where do the three meet?
The stainless counter has to meet the timber cabinet standing beside it. The sign has to meet a facade that is already built. The socket has to land exactly where the machine goes. None of those joins appears on any one party’s drawings.
Split the work across three contractors and each one delivers its own part correctly: the kitchen fitter builds to the kitchen drawing, the joiner to the interiors drawing, the sign maker to the facade drawing. What fails is the seam between them — a countertop sitting two centimetres above the cabinet, a sign leg landing on a beam the structural drawing never showed. Neither has a line in anyone’s bill of quantities, so by the time it surfaces, every party has a fair reason to stand aside.
The one left standing in the middle is the owner — usually in the final week, when the premises are already costing rent by the day.
Three lines in one workshop means someone is there to settle them. Not because we are better with our hands, but because all three answer to the same inspector: when two items clash, the person who decides is a few dozen metres away, decides that day, and decides before anything goes on the truck.

What does a workshop of our own let us control?
Three things, and all three come down to how the floor is laid out rather than to how good the hands are. You can read them straight off the layout above.

Material runs one way, in one end and out the other
Material comes in at one end of the building, runs through production, through finishing where a piece needs it, into the store, and leaves at the other end. Six product types each travel their own lane: solid timber, board, PU signage, acrylic signage, unpainted stainless and painted stainless. Six lanes side by side, each into its own store, so timber never shares a bay with stainless, and painted goods never stand beside unpainted.

There is a place to put things right inside the workshop
The workshop gives over 62.1 sqm to an area of its own, outside the three lines; the building plan calls it the product improvement area. A cabinet door that has warped, or a bad weld, gets put right there, while the goods are still in the building and still a truck ride away from site. Let it reach the restaurant instead and it has to come down, be remade and waited for, at a point where the opening date has no slack left in it.

Each line has the machines for its own trade
The interiors line runs a four-head CNC router, a seven-function edgebander and three dust extraction units. The stainless line has a press brake, a fibre laser cutter and its own pickling and polishing bay. The signage line has a PU casting machine, an acrylic cutter and a channel-letter bender. With those in-house, the difficult items never leave the building — and every item that has to leave is one more place for the schedule to slip.
How far does each line go?
Three lines run side by side inside one building, each its own trade with its own machines. Here is each of them, with photographs taken at the Thuong Hong workshop.

Interiors — two timber areas kept apart
We keep board work apart from solid timber work, because they are two different trades. The 307 sqm board area is about cutting accurately and edging flat, on a four-head CNC router and a seven-function edgebander. The 237.5 sqm solid timber area is planing, chiselling and jointing — hand work no machine replaces. Put both in one space and dust from one side settles on the paint finish of the other, and that finish is the first thing a guest sees walking in.
Finished pieces wait in their own 210.6 sqm timber store until the day they are installed, so they never sit out on site collecting dust.

Stainless kitchens — we cut from the coil, we do not buy ready-made counters
Starting from the coil, the work runs through six stages: decoiling, sheet cutting, brake forming, weld assembly, pickling and polishing, then the store. All six sit inside the stainless line, each with its own bay — 18 sqm for weld assembly, 18 sqm for pickling and polishing, 114.5 sqm of finished store for unpainted goods and 35 sqm for painted.
Why from the coil? Buy a ready-made counter and the steel grade is the seller’s choice: we take their word for it, and you take ours. Cutting from the coil, the grade is a choice we put our own name to. In a restaurant kitchen, the wrong grade means a countertop that pits after a few months of service.

Signage — we cast our own PU blanks
The 150 sqm PU area has its own casting machine, so sign blanks are cast here rather than bought in. Letter returns are bent and welded in-house, on an ultrasonic welder and a channel-letter bender. Signs, dimensional letters, light boxes and wayfinding are all finished here before they go out to the shopfront.
A sign is the first thing anyone on the street sees, and also the thing most often left until last, when the budget is thin and the opening date is close. Made in-house, it does not have to queue behind a third party’s work.

Questions we get asked
Why does New Sky make its own stainless steel?
Because a batch once arrived stamped 304 that was not 304 inside, and it rusted after a spell in a kitchen. The stainless kitchens page goes into steel grades properly; here it is enough to say that was the day we brought the trade in-house.
One contractor for everything, or split it by trade?
Split it and you hold the seams yourself: three sets of drawings, three schedules, and nobody standing between them. That work does not disappear when you hand the job to one contractor — it just stops being yours. Weigh up whether you have the time and the trade knowledge to stand between three parties, because the seams between packages always need somebody standing there.
Can I come and see the workshop?
Yes, and we would rather you did. There is a 56.2 sqm showroom with a 29.25 sqm sample room, so you can handle the materials and the finishes before signing them off on a drawing. A workshop tells you plainly enough: tidy or not, running or idle. It cannot be dressed up for a visit.
